Communicator • Content Creator • Technical Writer-Editor
Words, sentences, and images have the power to shape and shift the way we think about almost anything—people and places, business and government, issues and ideas. And, the meaning we give to these words—our perceptions—well, they have the power to move people to think, act, or believe differently. And that’s the goal, isn’t it?
I am Filiz Satir, a communications professional, content creator, and technical writer-editor who can dig deep into technical, scientific, and complicated issues, then craft the message, the post, or a story into accessible language.
I am steeped in the principles of plain language communication—writing in a clear, concise, and engaging way with the target audience in mind.
I write, research, report and edit technical content across industries – government, education, transportation – and disciplines. I believe strongly that “content” needs to be more than a commodity, and that your story needs to resonate with the audience it seeks to engage.
I am the founder of Natural Early Learners (formerly Nearby Nature), a Puget Sound resource that provides news, information, and inspiration about the role of nature and outdoor learning to support early childhood development in all the domains.
Content: It’s more than a commodity
The world is shaped by two things: the stories we tell and the way those stories connect us to our humanity.
The digital revolution has made everyone a writer, an editor and a publisher. Many of us have access to digital and online tools that allow us to produce a wide range of content, and then distribute it through the endless number of social media platforms.
The question is are you getting your story across in a way that makes your audience take notice? Do you regularly share valuable, compelling, and free content that attracts an audience and converts them into loyal readers and return customers?
Content is King, but distribution is Queen
At one point, it was enough to bend words into a thing of beauty and clarity and grace. The 24-hour news cycle, the explosion in media channels, the exponential growth in online content, and people’s shorter attention spans—all if it—is getting in the way of reaching your readers (audience). Content will always be king. But in the digital-information age, distribution is Queen. And, she will not be ignored.
Along with compelling content, you need a content marketing strategy. So what is the key to a successful content marketing strategy? Publishing reader- or customer-centric content on a regular basis—content that that is valuable, practical, and informative to the audience it seeks to engage. Content that induces individuals to share it in their own networks.
Do you routinely and consistently distribute your content on digital channels and take the time to analyze the outcomes?
Make your story rise above the din
My goal is to help you communicate your story in a simple, yet powerful way. Whether you’re a business owner, manager of a government program, or a director of a nonprofit, the story you tell needs to be clear and cogent. If your objective is to build and grow a relationship with your audience in a way that will make a difference to your enterprise or program, then I am here to help you achieve that goal.
